Unearthed Archives Vol1. WHIRLPOOLS

Unearthed Archives: A series of bodies of work containing photos from my archives that I have been unearthing as way to heal my past and also to rediscover myself..

Whirlpools: 2012-2013.

Looking out the window while in transit is something we all do, picking from the ever changing scene whatever it is that piques our interest. We follow it until our eyes strain or at least until something else that is more interesting shows up and we skip ahead, making a sweeping motion from the front to the back of the window. I see it as a paddling motion, as though I was on a boat, propelling myself forward along a perpetually flowing visual narrative, and as I paddle in this visual sea, I leave whirlpools behind. In the whirl or storm are the things I never managed to focus on and in the eye is my peak interest. In this series I try to replicate that particular experience through long exposure and at the same time give myself a second chance to examine a scene. Furthermore, I try to also see what it is that is the interest in my subjects because In life, we often find ourselves caught up in a whirlpool of activities, responsibilities, and distractions.

These whirlpools can represent the various demands and obligations that pull us in different directions. We may feel overwhelmed, as if we're constantly trying to keep up with the fast-paced flow of life. Amidst these whirlpools, we encounter moments or experiences that truly capture our attention and ignite our passion. These are the peak interests, the focal points that stand out amidst the chaos. They can be the relationships, hobbies, goals, or moments that bring us joy, fulfilment and a sense of purpose. However, just like whirlpools, these peak interests may also change and evolve over time. As we paddle through the experiential sea of life, we may discover new passions and interests, or our existing ones may shift or fade. It is important to recognize that our focus is not fixed but fluid, allowing us to explore and discover new aspects of ourselves, the people around us, as well as the world around us.

In a broader sense, I invite you to reflect on how we navigate through life's whirlpools and find our own peak interests. I want to encourage you to be mindful of the experiences and opportunities that capture our attention and make us feel alive. Take a step back, examine the scenes that you may have overlooked and give yourself a second chance to appreciate and understand the richness of life. Ultimately, it is through these whirlpools and peak interests that we shape our personal narratives and make meaningful connections. By engaging with the world around us and embracing the ever-changing flow of life, we can navigate the currents and create our own and emotional journeys, leaving behind a trail of whirlpools that reflect our unique experiences and perspectives.
